Avanté Pringle, Resident in Counseling
Avanté Pringle (she/her) is a Resident in Counseling who earned both her Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Therapeutic Recreation and her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Old Dominion University.
In addition to her counseling work, Avanté is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) with experience supporting adults in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Her clinical background includes working with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, substance use concerns, life transitions, and emotional, relational, and childhood and adult trauma.
Believing that healing is not a one-size-fits-all process, Avanté draws from a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Psychodynamic Theory, Existential Therapy, Reality Therapy, and mindfulness-based practices. Her approach is adaptable, collaborative, and rooted in respect for each client’s unique journey.
Avanté is especially passionate about inner child healing, reducing stigma around mental health, and fostering authentic connection in the therapeutic space. She sees her role not as someone who “fixes,” but as a compassionate companion walking alongside clients at their own pace. One of her favorite metaphors for therapy is that of a bowling lane: the client is the ball, the goals are the pins, and she is the bumpers guiding, not directing.
Outside the therapy room, Avanté values self-care and recharging. She enjoys watching YouTube, solving puzzles, taking weekend trips, and making meaningful memories with friends and family.
During residency, Avanté is under the supervision of Kim Small, LPC License # 0701005889
