Brittni Luzama, Resident in Counseling
Brittni Luzama (she/her) is a resident in counseling currently pursuing her LPC in Virginia. She is a graduate from Liberty University with a Masters degree in School Counseling with a concentration in Clinical Counseling and a Bachelors degree from Radford University in Social Work.
Brittni’s clinical background is compiled of various experiences that include working with children and adults. Brittni has received specialized training in postpartum disorders, perinatal loss, and premenstrual disorders as she has a passion to come alongside individuals who are experiencing challenges and struggles related family planning. She also is trained in EMDR for working with individuals with PTSD, complex trauma, and acute stress from recent traumatic events. Brittni works with individuals experiencing grief and loss, anxiety, depression, relational and family challenges, and career or life transitions.
Brittni approaches the therapeutic alliance through the lens as a mixed race, Black female with research based approaches rooted in Choice/Reality Theory and Adlerian Theory. She takes into consideration familial, socio-environmental, and cultural influences in her work with clients. Additionally, Brittni is comfortable supporting individuals who want to integrate protestant Christian worldview and principles into their counseling work. She understands that not one intervention fits all and strives the think creatively and collaboratively when developing treatment plans.
Brittni is passionate about answering the call to build community and those around her up. This passion has led her to be involved in several outreach programs, one in which she founded that is specifically for mothers in her community. When she is out of the office, she can be found spending time with her family and community, anywhere outdoors, on adventures, or relaxing to a good rom-com with extra butter popcorn.
