Brittni Luzama, Resident in Counseling
Brittni Luzama (she/her) is a counseling resident actively working towards her Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) credential in Virginia. She earned a Master’s degree in School Counseling, complemented by additional coursework in Clinical Counseling from Liberty University, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Radford University. Brittni's qualifications include training and certifications in EMDR, PMAD, PMDD, as well as Couples and Marriage Counseling.
With a compassionate approach and over a decade of experience, Brittni is dedicated to guiding individuals and couples through life’s complexities. Her areas of expertise encompass life planning, family planning, adjustment disorders, mood disorders, and women’s reproductive health. Brittni also uses EMDR and an attachment perspective in the treatment of trauma experiences in childhood or adult life. Brittni has training in CBT, DBT, and attachment-based concepts. By fostering a safe and supportive environment, Brittni collaborates with clients, both individually and as couples, to develop tailored plans that align with their values and aspirations, while effectively exploring their thoughts, feelings, and goals.
Brittni employs a client-centered and strengths-based approach, empowering individuals to leverage their inner resources to achieve their goals. Her therapeutic techniques integrate both faith-based treatment options for those seeking spiritual guidance and secular modalities, ensuring that therapy is in harmony with each client’s beliefs and preferences. She approaches the therapeutic alliance through the frameworks of Adlerian and Reality therapy, thoughtfully considering the influences of diverse cultural backgrounds.
Driven by empathy and understanding, Brittni is passionate about helping clients lead fulfilling and meaningful lives. As a devoted plant momma, she draws parallels between nurturing her plants and the therapeutic process, emphasizing that growth requires time, proper care, and a nurturing environment.
